Kollu sundal recipe|Horse gram Sundal recipe

Sundal is usually made during Navrathri festiva or we can make it for evening snack.Horse gram has the ability to reduce bad cholesterol.Consuming Horse gram can treat irregular periods.It has more health benefits,but don’t consume more,sometimes it will react reversible.

 

Kollu sundal

Ingredients

Horse gram/Kollu – 1/2 cup
Grated coconut – 2 1/2 cup
Salt needed

To Temper

Oil – 3 tsp
Mustard seed -1 tsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Red chillies – 1
Curry leaves -few
Onion – 1/4 cup chopped finely

Step by step method to make Kollu Sundal

1.Soak kollu overnight with enough water.Wash kollu and drain water

2.Pressure cook kollu with salt  and enough water for 3 to 4 whistles in medium flame.

3.Check sundal is soft if not pressure cook for 1 more whistle.Drain water completely

4.Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds when mustard seeds splutter add ,urad dal,red chilli,curry leaves and onion.Saute until translucent.

5.Add cooked kollu,saute well until dry.Check for salt ,add if required

6.Switch off the stove,finally add grated coconut,stir well and transfer it to a bowl.

7.Serve hot or cold

Horse gram Sundal

Note

Drain cooked horse gram water,use it for rasam or drink as it is.

When adding grated coconut switch off the stove,mix well and transfer it to a bowl immediately,so that coconut retain  its color.

If we want sundal for lunch or to stay for long time then avoid coconut or cook coconut completely to avoid spoiling
