Mutton Pepper fry|South indian mutton pepper fry recipe
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Pepper corns – 1 1/2 tsp
Small onion|Shallots – 1 cup chopped
Mutton – 500 gms
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
Oil – 6 tsp
Turmeric powder – 3/4 tsp
Coriander leaves – for garnishing
Step by step method to make mutton pepper fry
1.Wash mutton thoroughly.I am using hawkins cooker for cooking mutton.
2.Add 4 small piece ginger, 4 garlic pieces,salt and 1 glass water to the mutton.
3.Once we hear first whistle make the flame to medium heat and cook for 15 – 20 min.
4.Mutton gets cooked completely.
5.In a pan dry roast cumin seeds in medium flame,cumin seeds starts to sizzle,then transfer it to plate
6.Same way dry roast fennel seeds and pepper corns separately.In a mixer make fine powder of these three ingredients
7.In a pan add oil,when oil gets hot add onion to it and cook till translucent,then add ginger garlic paste to it and cook till raw smell goes off
8.Add cooked mutton to it with turmeric powder and cook in high flame so that water in mutton gets dried.
9.Now add 1 1/2 tsp of grinded powder to it with curry leaves and mix well .Let the whole mixture cooks for 2 to 3 min ,check for salt and transfer it to bowl
10.Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve with white rice,briyani
1.Cook mutton accordingly.Some takes even more time to cook and some takes less time than i have mentioned
2.Store remaining powder in refrigerator and we can use later
3.Dry roast cumin seeds,fennel seeds and pepper corns in medium flame without burning
4.We can use big onions if we don’t have shallots
