Rajma masala recipe|How to make quick and easy rajma masala
Rajma Masala,Easy to make with few ingredients.Say bye to store bought rajma masala powder and follow this recipe to cook rajma masala,you will never buy rajma masala from store again.
I made little variations to my moms recipe in a way it goes well with rice,dosa,roti,naan,rumali roti.Rajma chawal is one of the favourite dish in my home.
Rajma masala is a very famous punjabi dish.The cooking method of rajma dish here is very easy and quick to make.
When we make Rajma Masala or Rajma curry,the kidney beans should melt in mouth.Beans should cooked thoroughly in a way it should be soft and should not be mushy.There is a small line between well cooked and mushy,so we should be careful in cooking rajma
If kidney beans is not cooked thoroughly,it will upset stomach.So to cook rajma cooked easily,soak beans atleast 9 to 10 hrs and pressure cook until soft.
In this recipe i have not added any cream,For richness we can add yogurt or heavy cream.
Rajma or red kidney beans – 3/4 cup
Onion – 1 big chopped finely
Tomato puree – 3 big
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 3/4 tsp
Red chill powder – 1 tsp or as needed
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Oil – 6 tbsp
Step by step method to make Rajma masala
1.Soak red kidney beans 9 to 10 hrs or whole night with enough water.
2.Next morning rinse and pressure cook rajma with salt and water.When we hear first whistle reduce flame to medium and cook for 8 min.
3.When pressure release by itself,check beans is cooked thoroughly,if not again add half glass of water and cook for 5 more min .
4.Heat kadai,add oil,when oil gets hot add onion to it.Saute onion until golden brown.There is single line between brown and burnt,don’t burn onion.
5.Now add ginger garlic paste to it and cook until raw smell goes off
6.Grind tomato in mixer and add to it.
7.Cook tomato in medium flame until raw smell goes off and oil starts to leave on side.
8.Now add turmeric powder,red chilli powder,coriander powder to it and mix well.
9.Add cooked beans with water in it.Mix with masala.
10.Add 1 glass of water or add water as per consistency needed.
11.Let whole masala boil for about 5 min until masala gets thick .As we added salt while cooking rajma and added cooked rajma water too in gravy,so check for salt and then add .
12.Rajma masala is ready and we can serve with hot rice,roti,naan
